NEWS & EVENTS
Check out this incredible article about The Circle of Parents. Congrats to our parent leader Barb Fitzpatrick and facilitator Heather Stenson!
Butte Zero to Five and it's coordinator, Cass Weber were featured in this article in the Montana Standard.
A great article by Dr. Cathy White about Cont;nue Your Story
We organize kindergarten screenings for all the Butte elementary schools. We have grown from our initial 70 screenings to over 220 screenings per year. This helps schools to better place the children in classrooms. Every child receives a backpack containing resources for parents and educational activities for the children.
We provide backpacks to all new parents at St. James Hospital and the Anaconda Community Hospital. They contain local resources, helpful parenting tips, a Safe Sleep DVD and a gift for the baby.
CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH COMMITTEE
Formed by the Butte Community Council, in response to the early childhood needs assessment, the Children's Mental Health Committee meets monthly to address needs and issues of the youth in our community. Creating the Cont;inue Your Story campaign has been one of the major successes of the CMHC. This was an outreach campaign targeting suicidality and promoting a text, local and national suicide hotline.
MENTAL HEALTH NETWORK
HEALTHY FAMILIES NETWORK
We supported the creation of the Healthy Families Network. A collaboration between three agencies to provide SafeCare, Nurse Family Partnership and Parent's as Teachers. These programs provide home visiting to families and work together to support children.
We worked to create a mental health network to meet community needs. Telemedicine was brought to BSB and a local crisis line was created and promoted through Cont;nue Your Story
We have a number of volunteer opportunities throughout the year. We especially need help to complete the kindergarten screenings.
